An Open Casting Call (Sort of)....

Hero On My Arm is growing....maybe transforming (into something much larger) is a better way to phrase it.  The official launch date for this new venture is

So this is our "help wanted" ad.  You interested???

Who are we?  We are all military spouses, professionals that have struggled with finding success in the traditional workplace because of frequent moves, our spouse's deployments, less than ideal locations, and being subject to the "needs of the Army" (or the military in general).  We've banned together to create out own success.  Its a wild and crazy adventure, but we wouldn't trade it in for anything.  But...

We feel like there's something missing.  No, we know there's something missing- what's missing is more people just like us!  We know that you are out there, talented, hard working, creative kindred spirits.  Every time we have to contract out a job- a photo shoot, illustration work, catalog design, PR, a web application, a javascript, a new product-we always cringe, thinking, "I wish there was another military spouse that could do this job" or "I know there is, I just wish we could find her".

So here it is, our open casting call.  Tell us who you are, tell us what you do (and what you can do).  Inspire us!

Please don't contact us just to ask what we are looking for, if you want to see our specific job postings, those are here.   That's not what this casting call is about.  It's about adding to our core team- fellow entrepreneurs, designers, the big idea girls- like minds that dream big and ambitious dreams and are motivated to see them to fruition.  Its also about adding to our retainer of services (PR, web design, photography, e-commerce,  graphic design, legal, etc)- our "go to girls" for contract jobs.

Inspire us, intrigue us, question us, impress us!

Donating Uniforms

We've had a few inquiries lately, if we are still doing our uniform donation project, and the answer is YES.

You can donate any of your old uniforms to us, and we'll use them to make bags that we will auction off.  20% of the proceeds of each auction go directly to the Wounded Warrior Project.

With the holidays, we haven't had any auctions recently, so we'll have quite a few coming up in March!

Small P.S. here- Please do NOT send boots.  We've actually gotten 2 pair already, and we're kinda at a loss as what to do with them.  Any idea?  Please leave us a comment.  Generally we don't use boots when we're making our bags.  Thanks!

Occasionally, we get questions about if we can Hero On My Arm bags out of uniforms if they aren't military.  The answer is  

YES!

Absolutely.  We can make you a bag, regardless of the type of uniform that you send- in fact we love making bags out of different types of uniforms, so feel free to place your non military orders too!!!

The grand opening of Charisma Stitches and Gifts is this coming week:

They are located in the Westgate Shopping Center in Enterprise, and they carry a large selection of Hero On My Arm handbags.  You can also place custom orders in the store!  (Since our Alabama design studio is no longer open to the public).

Updates for 2009

Hero On My Arm is back open and taking orders again. We have given the website a face lift (hope you like it), but also tried to make ordering even easier. Please let us know if you encounter any problems with the new site. We still have just a few pictures left to upload, and probably a few typos to catch, but we will fix all that in the next day or two.

So what's new? A few things:
- We did discontinue some of our older bag styles, but..
-We also introduced three new ones; LUCY (shown above), MARGARET and a new wristlet/make up bag that we previewed late last year.
-We are switching from the post office to FedEx to ship completed orders.
-We discontinued some of our fabrics.
-We added a new smaller wallet, and double sided key chain.
-And we created a new sub category PURSE EXTRAS where you can add optional features to your bag, like metal feet, embroidery, pictures pockets, stuff like that. We hope this makes actually ordering your bag easier, as there will be fewer lines to fill out, and you can just visit the extras page and add to your order as needed.
